Exxile on Euphoria 2001
February 16 |
All that could be said introducing these gigs in Hamburg as a whole was said
in introduction for the first Hamburg gig; this gig's
uniqueness was just the setlist.
The setlist echoed that of the second London night, also the second night of a double-nighter. Differences were Flood I ("another folk song from Hamburg") taking the place of Body Electric, Anaconda added in place of Train/Detonation Boulevard (this was moved down the main set) and Vision Thing with its "2000 Hamburg 4" (postcode of Reeperbahn, Hamburg's central place for raw fun, in Vision Thing album times) reference replaced This Corrosion, excluded from Exxile setlists after that same second London gig. Support act: Paradise Lost. |

Just returned from Hamburg. Two phantastic gigs. The second one was one of
the best concerts I have ever seen (followed by the
first night in Hamburg).
I'm not 100% sure but I think I have seen Andreas Bruhn yesterday in the
crowd, close to the bar, at the end of the venue downstairs - together with
two other guys, all of them had "all areas" passes. I've also seen Andrew
friend Rodney Orpheus (Cassandra Complex) in the first night.
Someone
screamed something like "Wann kommt die neue Platte" ("What about
the new record?"). Eldritch answered: "Ich denk' schon dran. Ist 'ne
berechtigte
Frage, ich weiß" and then "Hoer auf zu meckern". (Very rough translation:
"I haven't forgotten about it. Qualified question - I know. Stop complaining".
My favourite quote from this gig:
"Noch so'ne Hamburger Volksmelodie"
(Von after Flood I).
Rough translation: "another folk song from Hamburg".
"Yowsa" to everyone I have met: Ingo, Nicole, Corinna, Christian P., Christian
E., Robin, Jan, Posy, Thorsten (and everyone I can't recall right now as I'm tired
as hell). Thanks to Robin for putting me on his shoulders during Alice.
See you in Berlin!
